Murder Mystery Dinner #2

1928

I was "Torchy", a night club singer who sung the Blues and then would kill whoever would give me a hard time.

Ryan was "The Kid", a star pitcher of a major league baseball team who would throw games to earn more money.

It was a fun night! Thanks guys!

AR Awards

Both Emily and Jacob each got an Award for reaching all four Accelerated Reading goals. They both love reading and do a great job doing it.
Good job guys!

School Assembly

This last Friday Emily asked me to come to their school assembly. Her class got up and presented the school's monthly value. She was pleased to see her dad and I there!

They each took turns telling jokes and we had to decide if it was a nice one or not. She did a good job saying hers!

I love going and watching the kids either perform, see how they interact with other class mates and friends, and support them in their different activities.

Mmm! Chocolate!

Last night, Ryan and I got the three older kids settled into bed. We heard noise in the kitchen and saw Ashley scraping out the chocolate in the bowl!
She got caught!

That didn't stop her!

She had a job to finish!

Eye patch

Jacob came into the living room and said, "look at my eye patch I made". He did a good job sizing it and taping it together! I tried it on and you can see out of it. I wonder where he got the lens.

Slide Rock

Slide Rock (Mom's visit)

This last weekend my Mom came over from Montana (while visiting my two brothers) to visit us. She brought my nephews Kolbe, Kaiden, and Taylor. We decided to go four wheeling at Slide Rock. We had such a great day and visit while they were here!

Emily sliding down the rock with Ashley.

Jacob playing with the cane he found there.

Jared enjoying his pop.

Ashley and Ryan getting ready to go.

Thanks for the great visit Mom!

Fun In The Sand

The weather has been so nice lately (in the 60's) and the kids have been loving being able to play outside!

While the other kids were off busy riding bikes and playing on the swing set, Ashley had fun and stayed busy in the sand!

Play-Doh

The kids were playing with Play-Doh and they wanted me to take pictures of what they had done and post it on our blog.
Jacob imprinted his "Gormiti" action figures into his Play-Doh and thought it was pretty cool looking!

Jared did the same with his red Play-Doh. Emily made a cute little snow man with hers. I love Play-Doh, until it gets in the carpet!

(Girl) Cousin Sleepover

Emily had her girl cousins, Aubrianne and Cassidy, here for a sleep over. Jacob spent the night over at his cousin, Russell's, house. They all had a great time!
The girls enjoyed ice cream at their ice cream parlor.

They ate some more treats while they were playing in Emily's bedroom.
(Notice, Akira is in on all the action)

After a while they settled down for a movie. Emily chose a National Geographic movie called "Jaguar" for them to watch. Probably not what they were planning on. Emily loves animals and animal shows!

Around 10:50pm these two jumped up and started dancing to some music. I caught them in the action, boogieing down.

There was lots of giggling! It was a fun night for everyone!

Chef Emily

Ryan went on another business trip this week. He was gone for five days and we were excited for him to get back. I wanted to make a nice dinner for him and Chef Emily wanted to help!

Emily put the steak rub on our steaks, and peeled a potatoe (it was harder than she thought). Then a few cousins came over and Aubrianne pitched in too. They peeled, and shredded carrots, and got the salad ready.

These were Emily's signs that she hung up in the kitchen.

All the boys were outside playing, so the girls made a Welcome Home sign for Ryan. They drew animals on it since he is a boy.
After the cousins went home, and we ate our dinner, Chef Emily and I made milkshakes. This morning we chose to eat waffles and eggs in paradise from her menu. It was fun and she loved doing it!

In the dog bowl

Yesterday, while I was in my room, Ashley came walking in carrying the dog's water bowl. She apparently emptied it and wanted to see if she could fit into it. It was so funny to watch! The bowl is so little, but it didn't stop her from trying!

Bed Buddies

The other night, after I put everyone to bed, I kept hearing noises from the boy's room. It was okay, so I didn't say anything. Later, I went in to check on them and they had fallen asleep together.

Mom has guts

Ryan has been out of town for five days on a business trip. The kids and I have been doing good and have been having a nice time. Well, one night at dinner, Emily said the prayer. About half the time someone will complain about dinner or not eat. We've gotten on them before for doing that and told them to appreciate what we have. Well, she prayed so they "wouldn't be so picky anymore" and then said, "Please bless Mom because she had guts to make this dinner." Oh my word! I smiled and was laughing inside. She was dead serious too! When she was done, I said thank you, and excused myself from the table. I couldn't help but laugh !

Fashion Fever

This was Emily, the night before she was going to "High School Musical on Ice". She was getting ready to go spend the night at Aunt Desiree's house, so they could leave early the next morning. She was very excited, so she got all dolled up! She came out and showed us and said she had Fashion Fever! You go girl!

Of course, she had to dress up little sister too!

This was the next day at "High School Musical on Ice".

What a bunch of cute cousins!

Pinewood Derby

Every year, Ryan puts on an Elder's Quorum Pinewood Derby. It's really fun to do, since our kids are too young to participate in Boy Scouts, we get to do this as a family!

This year, I made our family's pinewood derby car. I enjoyed making it! It ended up being really fast, and we got first place!

We all ate some pizza before the race started.
The boys loved sending our truck down the track!

Ashley liked watching the races. She was tired, and ended up sitting on that chair for at least twenty minutes!

Since Emily was the oldest kid, she made herself in charge of watching the digital readout of who came in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.

Ashley enjoying the view from on top!

It was a fun night for all of us!
